It’s finally official: GRANDProto300 has been approved by local authorities to be deployed in the Gobi desert! This array will serve as the main pathfinder for the GRAND project and GRAND10k arrays in particular. Located near Dunhuang, in the Gansu province of China, the approved site currently hosts the small 13-antenna GRANDProto13 array, which has been taking valuable data since early 2023. The commissioning of the first bunch of 70 antennas will take place as early as Fall 2024. At completion, by the end of 2025, the prototype array will consist of 230 antennas covering an area of 200 km2. From that point onwards, GRANDProto300 will be contributing to a rich science case, from astroparticle physics to radio astronomy!
